CFINVOKE workaround? - Coldfusion - Advanced Techniques

Hi, My web hoster is running a version of CF that does not support the CFINVOKE tag. Is there an equivalent workaround for the following: <cfinvoke component="rss" method="getEntries" returnVariable="newsfeed" xmlData="http://news.search./news/rss?p=%22south+africa%22+aids&ei=UTF- 8&fl=0&x=wrt"> Thanks, David...

    Hi,

    maybe <cfset newsfeed = rss.getEntries("http://news.search./news/rss?p=%22south+africa%22+aids&ei=UTF-8&fl=0&x=wrt")>

    Well, if it doesn't support cfinvoke it wont support CFCs either. If however
    they have disabled cfinvoke, then that is a different problem. All is not lost
    though you do not really need cfinvoke anyway, you just have to hope that you
    can either use the createObject() function or cfobject. I have several cfc
    driven sites and none of those use cfinvoke:-

    <!--- method one --->
    <cfobject name="oRSS" component="rss" />
    <cfset qNewsFeed = oRSS.getEntries(xmlData =
    "http://news.search./news/rss?p=%22south+africa%22+aids&ei=UTF-8&fl=0&x
    =wrt")>

    <!--- method two --->
    <cfset oRSS = createObject("component", "rss")>
    <cfset qNewsFeed = oRSS.getEntries(xmlData =
    "http://news.search./news/rss?p=%22south+africa%22+aids&ei=UTF-8&fl=0&x
    =wrt")>

    <!--- method three --->
    <cfscript>
    oRSS = createObject("component", "rss");
    qNewsFeed = oRSS.getEntries(xmlData =
    "http://news.search./news/rss?p=%22south+africa%22+aids&ei=UTF-8&fl=0&x
    =wrt");
    </cfscript>

    Yeah. It looks like they just don't support components. Thanks.
