Default CFM in a PHP template?

is there a way to execute CFM code in an existing PHP template?

i was toying with a pre-made freeware template that, unfortunately, is all in
PHP. i'd like to avoid the learning curve of starting a new language from
scratch, so i'm hoping there is some way to use coldfusion elements ...i'm
guessing this isn't possible since file extension is how a document is
processed, but its worth a shot asking ;)
