While there has been a number of post in relation to this, there has been no
solution.
The main one being

id=1015288&highlight_key=y&keyword1=Unable%20to%20 retrieve%20collections%20from%
20the%20Search%20Service

Senario,

Upgraded from 5 to 7
None of my collections in 5 where migrated, this is a pain, but I can recreate
them.

But when I go to the administration page and click the Verity Collections
links, the following happens

It takes about 30 seconds and then a message to say
" Unable to retrieve collections from the Search Service.
Please verify that the ColdFusion MX Search Server is installed and running."

The service is running (well the win 2003 services panel indicates it's
started) and the 3 services are at
k2admin.exe 12,376 k
k2index.exe 11,064 k
k2server.exe 130,392 k (seems high to me !!)

I have tried the other solution in the other post, no luck

But here's the interesting part. If I leave the admin open in the browser and
go back to it in about 1 hour and click the link it works. If I then create a
collection, the collection is created, but when the browser returns to the
collections page I get the error again.

Note:
The actual search works, that is if you create a collection and index it the
cfsearch tag will correctly return results enven though you can't broswe the
collections in the admin.

Someone hopefully will have a solution for this.
