CFObject question - Coldfusion - Advanced Techniques

Hi, I've been trying to instantiate a COM object and keep failing. I'm wondering if the problem is not because I'm working on a client machine, with the COM object registered on my PC and the hardware also hooked up to my PC. Is CFObject for server object only? We have CF 6.1 MX with the latest updates on a Windows 2003 server. Thanks, Catherine...

I have never used COM objects before, but I do believe it will only work with objects installed on the server.

If you install it on the server your problem should be fixed.

Robert10's right - the CF code is run server-side, hence it's accessing objects on the server.

That's what I was afraid of. I cannot install my object on the server since it is supposed to be also hooked up to a door. I'll have to find another solution, maybe with Java. Thanks,
