Change default email without going through "Mail"
I would like to be able to utilize the "Share for Review" feature in Acrobat. I am in a corporate environment and cannot set up a "Mail" account. What I have read in the forums and help is I need to change the default email program in "Mail". Our corporation uses Lotus Notes. I am currently using Notes 7.0.2 on OSX 10.4.11 2 x 2.66 Dual. Is there a way to do this?

Re: Change default email without going through "Mail"
There is a limited number of programs that Acrobat accepts as mail
programs its willing to work with. I do not think Lotus Notes is one of
them.

Re: Change default email without going through "Mail"
Jon & Mike: Thanks for your responses.
As far as I can tell, "Mail" has to be set up in order to change the default email program. I cannot set up "Mail" in my corporate environment (a Mac droplet in a sea of PCs). So I cannot attempt to change the default email. Are there any other ideas? Do we know for sure if Acrobat and Lotus Notes do not play nice with each other? Help?! :-)

If memory serves, Mac Acrobat plays nice with Mail, Entourage, and Eudora.

Carol,
You will need to access Mail prefs to choose Lotus via the CHOOSE icon
.... unless you can access this ... you're stuck ..

Yep only Mail, Entourage, Eudora, and Mailsmith.
Despite that none of these follow strict mbox Unix standards like Thunderbird or SeaMonkey. all of them with the possible except of Mail use mail standards several years ormore out of Date.
In Fact Eudora has been discontinued from its current vendor and the will use Thunderbird as the basis for all newer versions. So newer Versions will not be compatible.
Adobe uses mBox but it is a version of there own not using open standards.
So I doubt that Lotus note will work.

Mailsmith doesn't play well with Acrobat. I know, its my client of choice.

Re: Change default email without going through "Mail"
Thanks to all for your responses. I really appreciate the help.
It looks like I'm stuck with routing PDF proofs the old fashioned way... by emailing everyone a copy.
Now I have another problem. Acrobat keeps on trying to connect to the Windows server to check for updates to the "Shared Review Document" and my network password is getting locked out. I'm starting to annoy IT asking them to reset my password. I tried archiving the review. That didn't work. Any suggestions?

Re: Change default email without going through "Mail"
Your last problem is related to your first without using only Adobe approved Mail clients it won't work.
I wish Adobe would get into the 21st century and use open mail client standards that allows any email Client to work.
I've put in at least two request for this. But; they don't listen to the Customers.

Re: Change default email without going through "Mail"
Hi Carol,
You can indeed remove from the Tracker under Comments, edit the
frequency under Preferences / Reviewing and even remove the synchroniser
from your account start-up - with admin permissions that is ;-)

Re: Change default email without going through "Mail"
I thought I had the Acrobat/Server issue resolved. I do not. It seems Acrobat is still trying to access the Windows Server causing my password to be locked out. (The server access started after I attempted the Shared PDF). This is getting annoying for both myself and IT who has to reset my server password. How do I get Acrobat to STOP attempting to access the sever? I have:
• Removed the tracking from the Shared PDF
• Deleted the Shared PDF from my computer
• Deleted the Shared PDF and folder that contained it from the sever
• Repaired permissions, ran Disk Warrior, repaired permissions
• Uninstalled and Reinstalled Acrobat
• Removed the synchronizer from Account Startup
• Changed the frequency in preferences to the maximum. (It seems there should be a "manual" or "never" here)
help.
