I want to change footer and header in pdf documents.

Since PDF is an end format, I assume you don't have access to the file from which the PDF was created.
The easiest way would simply be to open the PDF in an application that reads PDF and has layout capabilities, such as Illustrator.
There are also third-party tools that will provide you with the most basic options, for instance page numbering.

Using the TouchUp Text tool may suffice for minor changes.

Thanks for the replies,
the touch up tool is okay but for a pdf documents of around 500 pages I cannot modify each and every page.
Xile,can you suggest some external tools.But converting from pdf to another format takes off the formatting which is a big problem.
DOes not Adobe have a solution for this small thing!
