changing Contribute start page

I am new to Contribute and am not very technical. When I set up my Contribute
start page, which was originally my website home page, it was set up with a
..htm extension. However, that page does not exist on my website, so every time
I log on, i see a "page not found". I want to change this start page within
the Contribute application to a .html extension but cannot find how to do that.
Any suggestions?

I have this problem with very large folders (for instance the images folders or
documents folders). I now change the folder in which the images/documents are
stored regularly, so it doesn't become to big.

When exactly does Contribute freeze in your case?

If it happens during publish, it might not be frozen. It might just be taking a super long time to publish. (Although when it takes 10 minutes to publish a file, it really may as well be frozen.)

It happens throughout the application. Meaning, sometimes when switching
between pages, sometimes when i hit "Edit Page", sometimes when i hit
"Publish", other times when I'm making edits. Each time when I look at the
Task Manager it says that the application is not responding.

1. Try to switch of your firewall to determine if the combination is causing trouble.
2. Configure your firewall to give allow Contribute all that it needs
