Changing Keyboard Shortcuts - Mac Applications & Software

How do I go about changing keyboard shortcuts either in the system r in apps (specifically MT Newswatcher)? There are a bunch of commands that I am so used to using in various apps, but now when I use them, it minimizes the window or hides the program, etc. I find it awkward to use the option or shift -command combo and would like the sytem to ignore command-m or command-h when I am using different applications. I don't see anywhere in the ssytems preferences where I can change these key commands....

    That's because you're not using Mac OS X 10.3 yet. :-) I don't think
you can do this in 10.2 or earlier.

There isn't really any way to change shortcuts without using some sort
of 3rd-party application or system 'haxie'. I've had limited sucess
with Menu Master from http://www.unsanity.com. There's also Quickeys from
    http://www.cesoft.com/

If you don't want to spend any money to get this feature, I think you'll
have to live with what each application implements.
