Re: changing rulers from points to inches
Also a very overlooked feature of FH is the default page. Open a new document and change your units, fonts, color list, page sizes, guides, etc. The save the page as a template in the settings folder. Then go preferences/documents and change the default page to the template you just created. Then every time you open a new document everything will be just how you want it.

Re: changing rulers from points to inches
Beyond the other responses, I'd add that you can also set your own custom keyboard commands to switch units of measurement on the fly. I have created one for points and another for inches, the two standards I most commonly use. That way I don't even have to mouse around to the bottom of the screen - I just quickly toggle back and forth between the two.
Keyboard shortcuts rule.
