Changing text color between threaded text frames
I'm having trouble figuring out how to change the text color (not manually) between two threaded text frames. Here's the scenario:
Page 1 has a black background so the text is white throughout the text frame. Page 2 has a white background and I need to have the text automatically turn black when flowing into this text frame. I can't seem to find a way to do this automatically.
I'm probably missing something easy but just am having a mental block. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Re: Changing text color between threaded text frames
No can do...you'll need different paragraph styles. The only thing I can
suggest as a workaround is playing around with the blend modes, but I'd
be real careful going that route.

A script may do what you want. I would post there.

Re: Changing text color between threaded text frames
Thanks. I'll try the scripts area.
I thought about blends but that would only work if the background was a solid color. In my case there is variation so while the text may stand out, there may still be variation in the text color.
We'll see!

Re: Changing text color between threaded text frames
I have not tried this to know if it will work. Would using a nested style work? If there is something in the text flow you can latch onto to make the style change for you. like when the page number changes.

Changing text color between threaded text frames
There's nothing built into InDesign that allows this, but one way to make it happen is:
- select the text box containing the text whose colour you want to change
- open the effects tab
- select the "text" row (underneat object, stroke, and fill)
- apply an "inner shadow" effect to the text, making the shadow whatever colour you want the text, and turning up (or down) all the measurements: opacity 100%, distance and offsets down to 0mm, size as big as possible (100mm is fine on 8.5pt type, I've found) and choke 100%.
Good luck!samwaltonyeah Guest
