Changing "w" shortcut
Hi - I'm trying to change the shorcut for preview mode (W) to a key that is not a letter so I can use it quickly even if I'm inside a textblock -- In what section of the keyboard shortcuts is it?
Thanks -

Tools.
And it is called Toggle view setting between default and preview.
Why would you want to change it? Whichever you change it to will always write the letter when you are inside a textframe and the textfame is active. Changing it to something else won't get you out of that. Instead cmd+click outisde the textframe to change to last used selection pointer before you press w.

You *can* apply a shortcut with a modifier key to anything in the tools section.
I replaced "w" with "ctrl-W" and the eyedropper lies under F2.
Works like a charm.

Re: Changing "w" shortcut
If you want to change the shortcut, go to keyboard shortcuts>product area: tools and scroll down to 'toggle vew setting between default and preview'.
Remove the 'w' shortcut, enter whatever for your new shortcut and assign, then save the set.

Re: Changing "w" shortcut
Thank you Gerald, David
F7 works exactly like I wanted it (I know, I know, like Quark). I changed the layers shortcut to something else. I didn't want any letter assigned to the shortcut. Now I can have my text tool inside text block or even have some text selected and I can go to preview mode with one key, instead of clicking outside the textblock then hitting W. (a 50% savings of time and hand movements!).
While on the subject: Is there a way to create shortcuts for Paragraph Styles that use only ONE KEY on the numeric pad? I'm having to add Command to them to "take," which requires both hands to enter. I'm used to zooming through assigning style sheets clicking on paragraph with right hand and hitting one number on the numeric keypad with the left (Quark), pretty efficient... any tips would be appreciated.

We had this discussion perhaps a week ago in a rather verbose form. Would you mind searching for it?
