    Default Check Site

    Hi all,

This is my first flash site and I am fairly new to flash
    but quickly catching on.

There is one problem problem I am having. My html page
background is black and so is the the background on my
flash movie but before the movie preloads there is a white
square in the place that the movie is loaded.

Can anyone help me out on this?

    Thanks!

Actually, the SWF file doesn't even seem to be there. I get a beautiful black background and nothing else. Try uploading the file again, or checking the file name in the link.

It doesn't load in NN....the embed tag (which NN uses) has index2.swf
instead of index3.swf (like the Object tag has which IE uses)...although
the generated html page is index1.htm ...very confusing ;) Looks like
the movie's name is index3.swf though....so you need to change that in
    the code of index1.htm.

The preloader doesn't appear until the page is 47% loaded, which is why
the white box appears for so long. On my dialup, it took about 4
minutes for the page to load....longer then I'd want to wait.

Very nice first Flash site though I must say!

    Thanks Kat!

I fixed the NN embed tags and have a new url for this page:
    [L=SeasideReptiles.com]http://home.comcast.net/~diamondbuster2004/seaside/index.
    htm[/L]
Now I have to go work on my preloader. Thanks once again for your input!

Well just for the sake of testing I removed the preloader and the white
    rectangle is gone.
And it loads quicker so it seems. Let me know how it works on your end.

    Thanks cat!

Now I will go work on a new preloader.

Very uncool site - some of those 'available to order' animals are on the
endangered species list and have you read their disclaimer about animals
    arriving dead?

Thankfully your site takes way too long to load.
although the graphics are consistent and quite nice over a meg? you gotta be
    kiddin!

you need to sharpen up your logos aswell - quite pixelated.

First of all None of the reptiles are endangered or obviously his business would
be shutdown immediately which would not make for a wise business choice
now would it? Secondly he is a well know importer/exporter and breeder in the
    United States.

And since you are so off topic and must not realize this post is about design
of a flash website and not the content of what the site is about let me
clarify the disclaimer because you obviously did not understand the terms
and conditions for live arrival guarantee. Here they are again.

1.Live arrival on counter to counter , pick up at carrier, U.P.S. EXPRESS MAIL
    ,
    AIR BORN, AIR FREIGHT
    2. No live arrival guarantee for shipments that are delayed or mishandled by
    the
    carrier (airlines, UPS, express mail,)
    3. No live arrival guarantee on on shipments sent via door to door services
    such
    as Express Mail or UPS.
    4. No live arrival guarantee on shipments sent to destinations below 40(f)
    degrees
    or above 89(f) degrees.

Now as far as my site taking to long to load, I have only tested it on
several broadband connections which prove to be very fast.

My logos are not "quite pixelated" from any computer that
    I have tested it on.

If anyone is having these same problems or any other problems,
please be all means share them with me!

    Thanks

The logos actually could be sharpened slightly. And, while you conveniently add
the button to make the sound go away, I actually fail to see what it adds. The
"whoop" sounds are, I'm afraid, naught save annoying, and the jungle noises
must add a significant amount of load time for not much of a payoff. I'd nix
all sounds. The links page needs some major re-organizing - it currently comes
across as a pile of jumbled and pixelated logos. Good job for a first try,
though. You might consider adding a non-flash splash page for crawlers as well
as those customers who don't have flash. I imagine there are quite a few old
ladies and the like looking to buy a little lizard or something and don't have
the greatest of computers. You do want folks to know they made it to the right
place though, even if your main page won't load.

I gotta agree about the annoying noises. For sure, they do not add to the
site, but the sure do cheapen it up considerably. Just because you CAN add
audio, doesn't mean you SHOULD add audio.

Trying to see past the annoying noises, the site seems a bit passive. It
seems that with all those nicely colored critters, there could more pizzaz
    intrgrated into the design.

Logos are definitly pixilated. Check on lower res monitors. If you are
looking at it with all 1600X1200, you are not seeing what the majority of
users are seeing. I use dual monitors at different settings, and when I
drag the browser over to the lower res, it become pixilated. Not all of
them, the Tricias is, HerpIndex is and Green Nature is. The rest look OK.
But they are looking bad on that contrasing background. That's just bad
design. Try making that background 50% black (or maybe more) when you bring
up the page of logos. Currently, they all just get lost in a sea of colors
and shapes and I dont wanna look at it. Not friendly to the eye at all..

    Hey thanks for the feedback.

The poor guy I am doing the site for likes the sound
and he is the one giving me a paycheck. I will try
at least try taking off the sound on the over state
    of the buttons.

As far as the site having "more pizzazz integrated
into the design", As I said before this is my first
flash website, I have not the technology yet to
implement the techniques I would like to use
unfortunately. I am self-taught and kind of learning
    as I go.

And yes the links page sucks and does need some
    serious help.

Thanks, I will be working on it as time permits.
