    I believe it's gone now, have you tried resetting the group? If you made
    the mistake of downloading it, it will likely still appear to be there aven
    after it has been removed from the server, because your news client only
    attempts to synchronize new messages it hasn't seen, rather than also trying
    to make sure it doesn't have any messages that are no longer on the server.

    (This is desired behavior, as you wouldn't want to lose messages that you
    have locally but have expired from the server; presumably, you keep them
    locally so that you can keep them longer than the server.)
