Checking the Plates
Hi Everyone, I'm a newbie to used a professional printer to print 2 color and 3 colors jobs. We used to just use the company laser jet. How do I check the plates or determine if I only have 2 colors or 3 colors or how every many. Also, this may be a dumb question but do shades of black, ie - 50% hexachrome black and 100% hexachrome black count as the same color or are those two.
Thanks for helping me out!

Re: Checking the Plates
Shades are one color. Remember, there are no dumb questions, just dumb people.
To count colors, you must have a post script printer installed. Depending on what version of illustrator, you can go to seperation setup under the file menu, or in cs go to print/output and select seperations under mode to see how many colors you are using.
If you are going to be sending output to printers, make sure you check and see which colors they use (they probably charge more for mixing colors especially for you) and probably it would behoove you to work off the pantone swatches.

Not that I was to imply that you were a dummy, just me being silly!
