Choice: USB or Parallel - Mac Networking

I have an Epson C80 printer which I need to attach to two computers. The question is... which way is best? I could connect a USB to Parallel cable to a G3's which is running Mac OS 8.6 and connect a USB cable to a D-Link print server which will receive print jobs from a PB running Mac OS 10.2.8 or I could connect the USB cable to the G3 and connect a straight Parallel cable to the D-Link print server. Considering data flow differences between USB and Parallel, which choice would give me the best connection(s) and why? Thanks, ...

Well, you wouldn't have to buy the USB-Parallel adapter if you USB to G3
and parallel to server. I've seen printers work this way (Mac on USB, PC
on parallel), but you'd have to check your printers doents to see if
    it will.

But if you have a print server, why not connect the G3 to that?

mainly because I have not figured out how to get G3 running Mac OS 8.6
to see print server. If I could figure this out, I would run everything
thru print server as Mac OS X is no problem. Any suggestions?.. Jim
