circular arcs of arbitrary angle
I am trying to indicate the dimension of an angle between two lines with an arc. The angle between the lines is arbitrary. I would like to know how to draw an arc of arbitrary angle. It appears that the "arc" tool can only generate arcs of 90 degrees.
I am currently using the pen tool to approximate such arcs. This is cumbersome and yields arcs which are not circular.
Thank you in advance,
Mark.

Re: circular arcs of arbitrary angle
Mark,
To do it once:
1) Drag (hold down Shift key) or define a circle, place it with the centre at the line intersection;
2) Add Anchor Points where it crosses the lines;
3) Deselect and Direct Select a segment outside and delete, or erase to cut open;
4) Delete Anchor Points to remove outside parts.
The Anchor Point tools are with the Pen Tool, the Erase tool is with the Pencil Tool, the Dorect Selection Tool is beside the Selection Tool.
To do it several times, reusing a template with 3/4 of a circle (or some other part in a similar way):
1) Drag (hold down Shift key) or define a circle;
2) Deselect and Direct Select one of the four segments and delete;
3) Save as a swatch (drag it into the Swatch palette;
4) Place arc and Add Anchor Points where it crosses the lines;
5) Delete Anchor Points to remove outside parts.
Once you have made the swatch you may start with 4); it still has the centre for adjustment, and you may scale it if needed.

Re: circular arcs of arbitrary angle
Mark,
1. Draw a square with the rectangle tool. (Shift-click-drag)
2. Skew it by entering the angle value you desire in the lowest right box of the transform palette.
3. Drag out a circle centered at the lower left corner of the skewed square to a radius slightly smaller than one of the square sides. (Alt-shift-click-drag with ellipse tool)
4. Select both objects, then Alt-click on divide in the pathfinder palette.
5. Use direct selection tool to remove unwanted segments.

Re: circular arcs of arbitrary angle
Mark,
You can also use, and reuse, the Arc Tool for angles up to 90 degrees:
1) Select Arc Tool and click somwhere to define suitable size;
2) Save as swatch (drag it into the Swatch palette);
3) Place with corner of bounding box at intersection and Add Anchor Points where it crosses the lines;
4) Delete Anchor Points to remove outside parts.
Once you have made the swatch you may start with 3), and you may scale it if needed.
Now, who will give us a Spiral solution, or?
