Clicking from Thumbnail pic to full size images

On my site I want to be able a thumbnail image into open the full size gif int a new browser. My problem is can I make this new browser center the picture and have a black background w/o having to have it go to an html page. Does anyone know how to fix this? Hopefully you will understand what I'm saying by checking out my link.
