Clipping mask question - with images ?

I am running Win Xp Pro with Illust. V 10.02.

I have a JPEG image of a newspaper article, and i have a vector image of a World Map that was exported from Flash MX as AI format.

would like to create a clipping mask, whereby the newspaper image will show only the world map shape. i try to select the two images, right click and select "make clipping mask" but it comes out with an error message that just shows "Inches", then the whole thing becomes invisible.

how can i achieve the result that i want ? thanks !!

I think you will need to make a single compound path of the map and then use
it as a clipping mask.

thanks ! what i did was, to do a compound path of the map, placed the newspaper below the map and used a clipping mask. :) thanks for your help.

strangely, i still get an error box that just say 'inches' but it works. so .. i can live with that.
