Co-odinates not accurate!!!!
0S.9.2
I have a page in QuarkXpress 4.1which has a flat colour (PMS288) in a picture box.
Another picture box sits on top of this whose dimensions are 18mm x32mm. Placed inside, with co-ordinates x:0 and y:0 is an AI10 EPS logo file whose dimesions are also 18mm x32mm.
On screen and to two printers it is fine but when printed to our infotec colour laser (Better rip , more accurate), to PDF and also when you make a Quark eps and check it in AI there is a visible white line at the top of the logo. (same when you run seps).
On closer inspection of the Quark eps or a PDF of the page in AI the EPS logo is positioned 0.35mm lower in the picture box which is causing the white line (gap).
I don't understand how this can happen when everything is set to the right dimensions / co-ordinates.
There are 2 solutions, none of which are ideal.
1. Change the y co-ordinate in Quark to -0.35mm ( this works)
2. Add 1mm bleed all round to the logo in AI and set the co-ordinates to x:-1mm y: -1mm in Quark. (this works)
The reason these solutions are not ideal is because I have 80 artwork templates which are to be sent round the world to form the basis of a global ad campaign.
I do not want to have one aspect of the a/w set to strange co-ordinates as above.
Does anyone know of a solution to this problem that will allow me to set the co-ordinates to 0,0?
Thanks
Doug

Downsave the Ai file to v8. Ai10 and OS9.2.2 do not play well together.

almaink, not sure how you knew that, but it solved the problem immediately!
I think it is a really dangerous bug / incompatibility issue that could major problems if not spotted.
Thanks a lot!

"Carbon" apps like Ai10 and PS7 are made for OSX. They will work in OS9.2.2 with CarbonLib extention but not very well. If you are running OS9.2.2 you are better off with PS6 and Ai9 or better yet Ai8.

I have also found that if you are running AI10 without the 10.03 updater many strange things happen
