Default Cochin Font Does Not Display Correctly

I'm building a site for a client that uses Cochin Italic for the headings of each page. The italic version of the font only displays correctly when it is being edited and in the preview of the font selector. When I deselect the text block the font displays as Cochin Regular, but slightly oblique. This is dumb.

I am using Flash MX for Mac OS X 10.2.6. I also have this issue with a second installation of Flash MX on another machine running Mac OS X 10.2.6.

Anyone else have this problem with a font? Suggestions?

what kind of text field is it? static or dynamic?

if it is a static field, the font will automatically be embedded when you export/publish the movie so don't worry about the display in the program.

if, however the field is dynamic, you have to imbed the font.
on the properties tab, there is a button labelled 'Character...', click it and then select 'All Characters'.

    this embeds the font.

if this doesn't work, you could check the box in the properties tab labelled Use Device Fonts. But the field has to be static.

It's a static text field. The font displays properly in it's regular and bold faces, but it doesn't display it's proper italic face when the text block is deselected. It reverts to it's regular face, only slightly oblique. It also exports incorrectly. I have tried setting it to dynamic and input text, but for some reason it just doesn't like the italic face.

My workaround was to paste the text into Illustrator, convert it to outlines, export as an swf, then import it into my movie.

I have since moved on with other elements of the project and recently tried the font again on my home Mac and it seems to be working properly now. I have no idea what happened.

Thanks for your suggestions, though. I'm not really a fan of this font and can live without it in future designs.
