but somehow this was changes to so when I uploaded the file inc_func_common.asp the forum had problems with "registration" and when I deleted "gl" from the included file everything functioned. I'm really hoping someone can help me because if I don't understand how this could be done there could be more problems in the future. :-( I hope you understand my explanation. Code change in an ASP-file - Snitz forum - how? - Macromedia Dreamweaver

Could someone please tell me how some code can change in an ASP-file? I haven't been in the file and change the code manually, myself. I'm new to ASP and don't know have this was done. I'm making my first Snitz forum and use a translated version in danish downloaded from here http://hifi-konsulenten.dk/snitzdk/default.asp. You can see my forum here http://www.gaia-instituttet.dk/snitzDK/. I was told that I had to make some changes to the forum because of some problems with "HTTP_REFERER and Looping". You can see all the communication about this problem here http://forum.snitz.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=41148&whichpage=2. My - member name are "tinem". I use ...

Default Code change in an ASP-file - Snitz forum - how?

Could someone please tell me how some code can change in an ASP-file? I
haven't been in the file and change the code manually, myself. I'm new to
ASP and don't know have this was done.

I'm making my first Snitz forum and use a translated version in danish
downloaded from here http://hifi-konsulenten.dk/snitzdk/default.asp. You can
see my forum here http://www.gaia-instituttet.dk/snitzDK/.

about this problem here
http://forum.snitz.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=41148&whichpage=2. My -
member name are "tinem".

I use Dreamweaver MX and Homesite and when I make some changes to the
standard files I save the original file in the folder and put a "gl" in
front. "gl" = old, to keep order.

The problem are:
In the file "inc_header.asp" is an included file message <!--#INCLUDE
file="inc_func_common.asp" --> but somehow this was changes to <!--#INCLUDE
file="glinc_func_common.asp" --> so when I uploaded the file
inc_func_common.asp the forum had problems with "registration" and when I
deleted "gl" from the included file everything functioned.

I'm really hoping someone can help me because if I don't understand how this
could be done there could be more problems in the future. :-(
I hope you understand my explanation. Otherwise just write me.

It sounds like you renamed the file in DW and it updated the file name. This is normal behavior when a file is renamed to prevent broken links.

The easiest way to prevent this is to open the original file and do a "save as" and give it a new name. and then close the file. Open the original file and make your edits.

Since the original file name did not change, DW will not rewrite the links and the copy you created using "save as" is your backup file.

Thanks David for your clear answer and tip. It's really a good advice and I
will use it in the future. Happily the forum is still in preparation and I'm
glad that I discovered this here in the beginning. :-)
