don't have anything to with web services. CF makes it very easy to
create web services of course, but you don't have to use them unless you
need to.
Not sure I understand the question--the direct answer is that one's> B > What is the difference between Java web service and cold fusion web

created in CF and one's created in Java. To the consumer of the web
service it doesn't matter what they're written in. And to reiterate the
point above, you may not even need a web service for what you're doing.
If they do the same thing you wouldn't need two web services. One of> C > I will be using Java to build some part of the application . So do I have

the points of web services is that disparate systems can leverage one
another through web services.
Hmm ... I'm confused about why you're confused. ;-) The fact that> D > I am not using coldfusion built in web server but our external web server

you're not using CF's internal web server just means that all your CF
files need to go somewhere where the web server can find them, and this
includes the CFCs that you expose as web services. I suggest checking
out the DevNet area of Macromedia's web site for some basic primers
about web services in CF--these might shed some light on things.

Hope that helps,

Re: Cold fusion web service
Hi Matt
Thanks for your reply . I need to get data from our SQL server database
through my cold fusion pages . The user will use the cold fusion pages as data
access page . So Do I need to make a web service to do that ? Is the web
service helps getting the data from the database ? Or I can just make cold
fusion pages and create data source and connect the cold fusion pages to the
SQL data source to get data on the cold fusion page ?
Thanks

need web services at all to interact with a database. You can use them
for this purpose as well of course, but they're not at all necessary.
