ColdFusion 7 Upgrade Issues
We have attempted to install ColdFusion 7 multiple times on Solaris 9. We
currently run ColdFusion MX Server 6.1 in /opt/coldfusionmx.
Attempt 1: Install in a new directory /opt/coldfusionmx7. Installation
completes successfully according to the install log and the output from the
installer. For some reason when we bring up the ColdFusion Administrator page
after our installs, it thinks that we have just installed version 6.1 (instead
of 7) and brings up the migration wizard for ColdFusion 4.5/5.
After completion of the migration wizard the ColdFusion 7 server is no longer
responsive. The cfstat command reports the error below, even though the
cfusion processes are running and there are no errors in the cfserver.log.
# ./cfstat 5
Could not contact the ColdFusion Application Server running on this machine:
Perhaps CFAS is not running on this machine?
Perhaps cfstat is not enabled from the CFAS administrator?
Perhaps CFAS was not restarted after enabling cfstat?
Attempt 2: Install in a new directory /opt/coldfusionmx7. Installation
completes successfully according to the install log and the output from the
installer. If you skip out of the migration wizard, you are able to login to
the administrator page without any problems but there are errors through out it.
Sample Errors From the Administrator:
The datasources page reports the following error:

Has anyone else had these type of issues in the Solaris environment?

Re: ColdFusion 7 Upgrade Issues
Best practice for migrations is to do a side-by-side install of CFMX 7 -- by
choosing the built-in web server option during the install. Then complete the
Configuration Wizard (including the migration wizard). Once you're satisfied
your CFMX 6 settings are properly migrated, run the Web Server connector wizard
to point the web server to CFMX 7.
