Default ColdFusion MX 7 - J2EE installation Woes on Linux

I know that this has been one of the more troubling issues for the Windows
platform, but I, too, cannot get Coldfusion MX 7 to install sucessfully on Red
    Hat Linux Enterprise 3.

The errors I have been getting is towards the end of the installation, with a
pop-up dialog that says "Installing Merge Module." The thing is, this routine
has not stopped for the last four hours. It stops at the part where it
installs the Verity search service merge module (search_linux_iam.zip). I'm
certain it's not a CRC error either because I have verified the MD5 checksum
with the one provided on the download page.

For now, we'll continue running ColdFusion MX 6.1 until this is resolved. But
we would like to use ColdFusion MX 7 because of the many exciting features it
    offers.

    Please advise.

I've come up with a temporary solution. Do not install the Verity search
services. If you have a failed ColdFusion Linux installation, it will have
installed it somewhere on your server.

Instead, proceed with the installation as normal, aside from the fact that you
are not installing the search services. Then, after the server has been
installed, toy with the configuration of your failed installation of Verity
search services. If you configure it correctly, you can get ColdFusion to work
with Verity search services, if you need its indexing features.
