ColdFusion MX 7 on Red Hat Enterprise Linux ES 4?
Hi there,
i read in the ColdFusion MX 7 System Requirements, ColdFusion MX 7 supports
Red Hat Enterprise Linux AS & ES versions 2.1 and 3.0.
But i'll setup ColdFusion MX 7 on a Red Hat Enterprise Linux ES 4 platform. Is
this recommended or which
is the best linux platform to run a stabile ColdFusion MX 7 environment on
JRun or another J2EE application servers?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance

If it works, it works. Linux is notorious for breaking backwards
compatibility. But you will probably not be able to get much technical
support until we certify that platform.

Re: ColdFusion MX 7 on Red Hat Enterprise Linux ES 4?
Well, I can tell it installs fine... and appears to start fine, but when you
try to view the Administrator, you get: The Graphing service is not available.
This exception is usually caused by service startup failure. Please check
your server configuration. Please try the following: Enable Robust
Exception Information to provide greater detail about the source of errors. In
the Administrator, click Debugging & Logging > Debugging Settings, and
select the Robust Exception Information option. Check the ColdFusion
documentation to verify that you are using the correct syntax. Search the
Knowledge Base to find a solution to your problem. So, I have no idea what
that means....

Re: ColdFusion MX 7 on Red Hat Enterprise Linux ES 4?
ANSWER! I have found the solution to getting it going. You MUST have these
rpms installed: [root@localhost ~]# rpm -qa | grep x11
xorg-x11-Mesa-libGL-6.8.1-23.EL xorg-x11-devel-6.8.1-23.EL
xorg-x11-deprecated-libs-devel-6.8.1-23.EL xorg-x11-libs-6.8.1-23.EL
xorg-x11-xfs-6.8.1-23.EL xorg-x11-xauth-6.8.1-23.EL
xorg-x11-deprecated-libs-6.8.1-23.EL xorg-x11-font-utils-6.8.1-23.EL The
important ones are the depreciated-libs - without thouse, CFGraph or whatever
it is will not start, leaving you unable to access the Administrator. So far,
with these there, CFMX7 works great on CentOS 4.0, and if that's the case, it
will definitely work great on RHEL 4.0.

It is a bug that the admin doesn't work when the graphing service doesn't
start and we will definitely fix that. Glad to hear you got it working.

Re: ColdFusion MX 7 on Red Hat Enterprise Linux ES 4?
You can easily make CFMX7 work on RHEL 4 - you just need to have those RPMs
installed that I mentioned above. Do you know to check for those? These are
the two most important: xorg-x11-deprecated-libs-devel-6.8.1-23.EL
xorg-x11-libs-6.8.1-23.EL

Re: ColdFusion MX 7 on Red Hat Enterprise Linux ES 4?
Is this a bug in Solaris as well? I've just installed CFMX 7 on Solaris under
BEA Weblogic 8.1 and also get that error trying to go to the administrator for
the first time. The only error I saw in startup was:
04/21 21:12:24 Error [ExecuteThread: '1' for queue: 'weblogic.kernel.System']
- Unable to initialize Graphing service: java.lang.RuntimeException: No Flash
Fonts were found in: /usr/local/bea/domains/AIG/fonts
The directory it shows is my domain root for the BEA Weblogic server, not the
application deployment root anyway (???). Not sure how/why it's looking there
to begin with since there's nothing in the documentation saying we need to
install something there.
Any help appreciated! (I'm going to try to remove the CF_GRAPHING_JVM_OPTIONS
from the WLS start script to see if anything changes - or modify it.

You also need to add this line...

If this doesn't work for you... email me... and I can send you the all the
java_opts we use.

You must also add -Xbootclasspath/a:cf_root/WEB-INF/cfusion/lib/webchartsJava2D.jar jvm argument in order for the com.gp.java2d classes to be found before the standard JVM classes are.

Re: ColdFusion MX 7 on Red Hat Enterprise Linux ES 4?
I got it working - my problem was I didn't read the commented lines with very
similar arguments carefully where it said if your JVM is 1.4.1 and higher to
put "Headless" after "Ex". Then I had to delete the deployment and redeploy and
it worked (just restarting the app server didn't fix it)

probably making a typo or leaving something out. Could you post a jvm.config
