Color Effect ?

Hi everybody,

Could anyone help me and tell me how can i creat an effect in photoshop like in the picture on the following link ?

This has several different patterns of lines and text overlaid by a gradient.
[edit] It looks like several colors were also overlaid and smudged, swirled and liquified.

I am not really interested in the upper lines or the text, just on the color mixture and the black hole in the middle.

Thx for your replay but could you explain me if you can what do you mean by smudged, swirled since i could not find them in PS 7.

Well, this isn't exactly it, but I created a gradient adjustment layer of some colors that resembled what's in the image. Then I stamped the layer and ran Filter|Distort|Twirl, set it real high.

I added a black layer beneath that.

Then I drew a circle in the middle with the elliptical marquee tool, I created an alpha channel out of that, and then burred it heavily.

Then I loaded that alpha channel and applied it as a layer mask to the twirled gradient.

You should be able to play with something like that I would think.

it's just tweaking and playing. tony gave as good a tutorial as it gets for something like this. twirl/liquify/masks, etc. challenge yourself.
