Color problem
Hi,
I was working in Photoshop and accidentally hit some key combination and now I have a color problem. When I sample a color with the dropper, then try to apply it to another area, the color is lighter than what was sampled. The color in the toolbox area is right, but when I apply it it's lighter. I also should mention that I'm working with a layer mask. Anyone know what I did?
Thanks,
JA

Re: Color problem
Make sure your Layer and Fill Opacity is set to 100%, Layer Blending "Normal."
Likewise, make sure that whichever tools you try using to apply the color are set to 100%, and blending mode to "Normal."
You probably hit a key combo that changed one of these.
Please see the Quick Reference card or PDF for more info.

Re: Color Problem
You'll want to set up your color management for working with CMYK colors.
There's a section on Color Management in the Help files.

Re: Color Problem
We've found that bitmaps placed in Freehand will reproduce as set in Photoshop.
Color management is tricky and not very precise. What kind of computer are you
working on and what version of Freehand and operating system?

explain clearly in sixteen pages?!! ;-D
Very sorry, I can't possibly tell you how to set up color management for
your machine and your intended output. Color management settings will vary
with your monitor, your operating system and the printer you will be
printing to.
Maybe Ian Kelleigh's tips will help:

Umm .. not precisely true. As long as you're printing to the same CMYK> one of my friend said that even the color display is different in freehand ,

printer, using the same printer settings, the same image will print with the
same colors, whether printed from Photoshop or from Freehand.

Re: Color Problem
Just to confuse matters and put a downer on things, in the past I've found that
Freehand running on a PC will print differently to Photoshop, on same printer
and same settings. Moreover PC Freehand will print CMYK Tiffs differently to
Mac Freehand. I used to work in a large-ish design studio that ran both Mac and
PC, and our IT guys never did find a totally reliable solution.
I don't have any definite answers, but to get by I've found it best to avoid
CMYK images in PC Freehand altogether if you possibly can. If you stick to RGB
you'll get much more consistent results without putting the time in to tweak
your settings for hours on end. You may well get CMYK to work well on screen
and in print on a PC but it'll be a case of methodical trial and error.
If anyone has more thourough or useful information on this then I'd love to
know too, it's given me a lot of headaches over the years!
