colors turning to black
Just upgraded to Acrobat 7. Now whenever I make a pdf it turns half the colors in the Quark document randomly to black.
After an hour of trying different settings in the job options, I managed to get a setting for "print quality" that apparently keeps all the colors as they should be. But I can't seem to duplicate it at lower resolution, for sending proofs through email. The only difference in the settings I can find at all is that the downsampling rate is different. I even set my low-res proof settings to convert colors to cmyk, since that was the only setting that seemed to be working, even though that's wrong for on-screen viewing of proofs. No luck. Colors randomly change to black -- some of them are in imported eps files that convert to black boxes, some are text colors applied in Quark, some are border colors applied in Quark. All are cmyk in the original Quark document. Other colors seem fine. I use the same .ps file to create each proof. My high res proof looks right. The lower resolution proof distilled from the same ps file is half black.
I'm at my wits end. Anyone have any idea WTH is going on here and what setting I change to fix it??

Re: colors turning to black
That happened to me and it drove me crazy. If it is the same issue, it has to do with accessibility. Accessibility has certain settings that change your document colors 'randomly' to allow for high contrast between text and background. To correct this, go under Acrobat...Preferences...Accessibility... and uncheck the box that says 'replace document colors.' Hope that helps.
