You can create halftone effets via the effect menu under pixelate > colour halftone, you'll have to play with it though a few times to get what you're exactly after.

The "speedline" effect you can te by just making a custom gradient. Start by adding a few shades of blue and you'll see it start to take effect.

Effect > Pixelate > Color Halftone.

And how is this speedline kinda effect created?

Perhaps using a Filter > Blur > Motion Blur in Photoshop. You could also make a gradient emsh in Illustrator or blend between two vertical multi-step gradients.

    Kevin,

The explanation to 08 is here (unfortunately, Scott does not keep his images in a safe place, but it showed part of a pale blue filled circle in the top right corner fading into deep blue in the rest of a rectangle, the intermediate part being a halftone pattern): <http://www.adobeforums.com/cgi-bin/webx?128.3bbabeaa>

a1 can be made as a simple gradient (linear, 90 degrees).

    Edit: Hi Scott.

    Hi JB.

I deleted the image to keep things maneagable and easy to navigate. I forget what I did initally, but here's something:

This is one circle with two fills in the Appearance panel. The halftone is a radial gradient with the effect applied using 45% angles for all four colours.

Scott, it was much like it, only in two shades of blue, both ending solid.

Dean, when I posted I only saw the post from Scott. Now I see you were fastest.

I have a final question on this subject. What settings do I change to get squares instead of dots for the halftone effect.
