Default Compile PDF from multiple docs

    Hi,

I have Acrobat 5 and 51 workd documanets arranged as follows.

    -|--Chapter 1
    | file1.doc
    | file2.doc
    | file3.doc
    |--Chapter 2
    | file1.doc
    | file2.doc
    | file3.doc
    |--Chapter 3
    | file1.doc
    | file2.doc
    | file3.doc

I need to convert them all to a single PDF.

    Any ideas ?

At the moment I am opening each doc and printing to PDF, then I will open the first PDF and insert (after last) all the other PDFs.

There must be a better way ?

    Any ideas ?

Default Re: Compile PDF from multiple docs

Upgrade to Acrobat 6 and use the 'Create PDF from Multiple Files' feature. Allows you convert/merge in the one easy step.

If I am not wrong you have this feature in Acrobat 5 as well, I would make 3 chapters separately and then compilt together or all can be made at once, depends on choice and any other document insertions!!

I don't know why our documents was created like this, all the page numbering are wrong as each seperate document starts at page 1.

Default Re: Compile PDF from multiple docs

    Hi Allen,
I am not too sure but I remember making few pdfs from many pictures using Acrobat distiller (server edition) which was installed in my university, they still have it. I will check again.
Or may be I could add pictures in the existing pdf, as Matt is saying.
Matt, what if you make one pdf of first page or first file and then add another file, save it and repeat procedure. I know this sounds stupid but give a try, might work, never had problem for me!!
