    Default Compound Paths in CS

Any reason why the shortcut command to create a compound path work fine but the shortcut to remove one do not? Apple+8 will make the compound path but pressing Option+Apple+8 has no effect. Clipping Mask shortcuts work fine.
A small problem but annoying. Running OS 10.3.2 if it matters.

It's a problem with the option key for some operations. It happens at times in Photoshop CS and Indesign CS as well.

I suspect it's an OS issue.

Command-option-8 is a specific combination that does not seem to work in any
OSX application, I thought this was just through Jaguar, but Steph's post indicates
    otherwise.

Panther should give you the ability to regain that keystroke: In System Preferences > Keyboard & Mouse, click on Keyboard Shortcuts. Universal Access uses Command-Option-8 to turn Zoom on and off. Uncheck the checkbox, and it's turned off. Now it works in Illustrator CS.

Actually, the Keyboard Shortcuts feature is a little known way of adding shortcuts to the Finder or Applications. Scroll to the bottom of the Keyboard Shortcuts display, and you can ADD keyboard shortcuts to the Finder and many apps.
