Computer freezes when downloading files from Adobe online.
Whenever I open Acrobat 5 or Photoshop Elements 2 my computer goes to automatically download the "online components" from Adobe online and freezes. can't be avoided, it happens automatically. message says "file = AWEDB files4.awe"

Computer freezes up

You might want to disable the automatic updates under the preferences
and download manuallly from the Support/downloads/ section of Adobe.com

where do you go to stop this i've gone to my system pref. cant find cant start any of my adobe software without the same thing happening where do i find the disable?

If on OS9, System/Application Support/Adobe/Web. Drag the whole file to the desktop. Restart and launch Acrobat. From the Help menu choose Adobe Online. Select the preferences bar and set the drop-down menu to Never. Do the same for Elements. Now you can move the Web folder back to the Applications Support folder to restore the Help function.
