MacNetTools does concatenation (in 2 separate ways) and much much more.
Works under all OS versions from 7.5 through OS X. ChunkJoiner and the
rest are just toys by comparison.

but .010 on I get a a "premature end of file" message. There is no
referance to this in the pdf.I am working with a .001-.085 file and
    can't get past .009.Any suggestions?Thanks,Bill.

This should not be happening. MNT's Join command works with files having
any numeric subextension from .000 to .999 with the default options and
can be made to work otherwise by selection of the various options.
Future versions will also add support for Stuffit Expander style
numbering (and files) without those leading zeroes. The concatenate
command works similarly but is less useful than Join and will be merged
into a single Join command in future versions. Try resetting the default
settings for that panel (select Command B, select Join Fldr Command,
click default button, click OK) and see if that helps any. If not, then
trash the file at path "System Folder:Preferences:MacNetTools Prefs" and
try again. If that still fails then email me at the address shown at the
end of the doentation PDF and I will try to help (I am the MNT author
by the way). Do not use the nym.alias.net address (NaN is dead) but use
the other hotmail address to reach me - I have just reactivated that
    mail address for your benefit.
