For some reason IE6 ignores this. If I remove the "6" from the conditional statement IE6 does apply the stylesheet, but so does every other IE browsers version which is not what I want. Having searched around the net, putting IE 6 should work, but for some reason its not for me. Any help would be appreciated. Can you post the complete version number of your IE? Mine is 6.0.2900.2180 on a WinXP/SP2 box, and the above CCs seem to work here. Conditional comment CSS Hack for IE6 - Macromedia Dynamic HTML

Hi, I am trying to get around an IE6 display issue and I've tried using a conditional comment in the head tag to load an IE6 specific stylesheet. Default Conditional comment CSS Hack for IE6

    Hi, I am trying to get around an IE6 display issue and I've tried using a
    conditional comment in the head tag to load an IE6 specific stylesheet. Here's
    my code:

    <link href="css/normal.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" />
    <!--[if IE 6]>
    <link href="css/ie-6.0.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" />
    <![endif]-->

    For some reason IE6 ignores this.

    If I remove the "6" from the conditional statement IE6 does apply the
    stylesheet, but so does every other IE browsers version which is not what I
    want.

    Having searched around the net, putting IE 6 should work, but for some reason
    its not for me.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    The syntax above is almost the same that I use on my own sites:

    <!--[if lte IE 6]>
    <link rel="stylesheet" href="/css/ie6.css" type="text/css" media="screen">
    <![endif]-->
    <!--[if IE 7]>
    <link rel="stylesheet" href="/css/ie7.css" type="text/css" media="screen">
    <![endif]-->

    Hmm. Can you post the complete version number of your IE? Mine is
    6.0.2900.2180 on a WinXP/SP2 box, and the above CCs seem to work here.

    Huh. I guess it must be the version of IE6 I'm using. I downloaded IE Tester
    from http://www.my-debugbar.com/wiki/IETester/HomePage (well worth downloading
    by the way) and the hack works fine.

    Thanks for taking the time to look at this for me.

    You're welcome.

    One more guess: Do you have multiple IE installed on the same machine?
    This can also be a reason why some conditional comments may fail.
