You have no C compiler installed to compile the gcc. To compile gcc
you must have a working C compiller (use a binary distribution of gcc). With
this compiler, you can roll your own gcc.

    HI,

You are trying to compile a compiler without a compiler.

Why invent the wheel? get a precompiled compiler(and more software) from
www.blastwave.org or www.sunfreeware.com. The first is very easy to
install once you have installed the pkg-get program, the second is a
traditional install with a wizard and without the dependency checking.

So, a tip checkout www.blastwave.org first!

Thanks for the plug :-) but blastwave will not meet his particular needs.
He needs solaris 2.6, and our cutoff is solaris 8
