configuring a scanner connected to linksys print server via USB - Linux Setup, Configuration & Administration

i have an hp Laser Jet 3330 all in one printer/scanner/fax connected
to a D-link print server with static IP address of 192.168.x.xx. printing
is a breeze with printconf-gui. i input the static IP address of the
print server, input the queue name, use a Networked UNIX (LPD) queue
type, select the appropriate driver and it prints like a charm.

i've tried to use the hpoj driver, but it asks for a Networked
JetDirect address. I put in the static IP, but it says it can't find
anything. Basically, I've done a lot of looking around for
how to connect the same machine but now different function to my linux
box, but to no avail. Does anyone have any advice?

Give up. Jetdirect is its own weird world, and the Linksys doesn't do
    it.

I should have written d-link in the title. i guess i should just
connect the hp laser jet directly to the machine?
