    Default Conflict with Pagemaker?

I decided to update my resume which had been designed on Pagemaker years ago, so I broke out my copy of Pagemaker 6.5. I decided to place an EPS file into it, and all I get is a white rectangle. I have been through a forum for Pagemaker on this, and the best we came up with is that maybe Freehand (The EPS was written out from Freehand 8) writes out the EPS file in a way Pagemaker has a problem with. If I use Freehand (again, version 8) to write out to AI and try to place the file I get an error message saying the file doesn't begin with the correct sequence for that format. It tells me what the offending sequence is, and what it should be, so I could try opening the file in a text editor and changing it, but that's a pretty hefty workaround even if it does work. Has anyone encountered something like this before? Is there a something I'm doing wrong or forgetting?

It seems that the screen image is missing for some reason. The actual
postscript image cannot be viewed on screen and therefore eps files usually
include a low-res image for placing.

Only way to be sure if the postscript image is ok is to print the document
with placed eps to a Postscript printer or to create a pdf. Of course you
can distill just the eps image.

Thanks for the reply. When I copy and paste the EPS file (from Freehand) I get the low res thumbnail of the image, and that may be an fpo, In any case, I'm trying to print this as a PDF file, and The PDF always comes out looking the way it does on screen, whether it was displaying the low res image, or the white box. I haven't tried sending it to a printer to see if it's just an fpo image because I don't have a printer installed on the computer that has Pagemaker on it. I just print everything to PDF.

Copy & Paste spells trouble in publishing. In some cases you can do it but
to be on the safe side always export and import.
