confused about timeline
Hi,
As you can guess I'm a new with Flash.
Can I have a flash document with only one frame? If that is so then what
happens when it gets to the end of the timeline, does it stop or loop or go
off into oblivian to trash memory? If I only use 3 or 4 frames what frame
rate should I use and does it matter? Does a button object with 4 states and
which therefore has it own timeline live within one frame of the main
timeline?
I've got 3 or 4 books on Flash and most of them concentrate on drawing
pretty 3D rectangles with a gradient fill. Are there any decent books
perhaps more on action script than on pretty graphics? "Flash MX" by Jen
Dehaan is exceptionally boring.
Thanks,
Paul

yes
it stops. If there is more than one frame, it loops.> If that is so then what happens when it gets to the end of the timeline,
> does it stop or loop or go off into oblivian to trash memory?
depend how fast you want those three frames to play> If I only use 3 or 4 frames what frame rate should I use and does it
> matter?
a button doesn't REALLY have a timeline .. it has 4 states. Flash happens> Does a button object with 4 states and which therefore has it own timeline
> live within one frame of the main timeline?
to show those states in the timeline, but they are not truly frames in a
timeline (like you have in clips or scenes). There is no flow between the
'frames' of a button etc.

Re: confused about timeline
Macromedia flash 5 Actionscript for fun & games by Gary Rosenweig You can
get a copy pretty cheap off of eBay. I realize this isn't for the latest
versions of flash but much of it still applies. Very good book to learn
from.

Most of the Macromedia Training from the Source books will also be
helpful to learn from and peachpit press has a relatively inexpensive
series of books that are pretty good, although I find them mainly useful
l as a reference. Many tutorials can also be found on www.flashkit.com
