Default Connect to SQL on another server

I am looking for articles or assistance in establishing a connection to a SQL
2000 db on another server in our network. Both servers are running MS SBS 2003
and we are using CFMX ver 6,1,0,63958

For now I have some very basic questions.

    1. When establishing the datasource, does the passed username/password need to
be an administrative level account on the db server?

    2. What security issues does this method raise?

    3. Does remote db access cause a performance issue?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Default Re: Connect to SQL on another server

The answer to question 1 is that the database account does not have to be an admin account, it just has to have all the necessary permissions.
