Connection issues in LAN and FTP choices

A strange problem this. Using Dreamweaver 8 i can connect to my webserver
location where my site resides, i can also access it using the run command in
windows, however Contribute wont even let me create a connection using LAN or
ftp options and i dont know why. I've tried everything i can think of including
changing the ftp options. What makes it even worse is that it used to work a
few weeks ago using the LAN connection option, but now nothing.

I get the following error message in Contribute 'Contribute cannot verify your
connection information. The path given does not match the provided website's
home page, or there may be a permissions problem. Please contact your
administrator for assistance'

My network password and user name are the same as for the server and i have
admin access to the webserver.

Any ideas?

I would walk through your connection and in the screen where you define the
ftp settings, click on Advanced button.

Try a couple of things in that window. Try the top option which allows
Contribute to auto detect the options.

If that doesn't work then try setting the option or Passive FTP.

Hello John,
I have tried all those methods you recommend in your previous post. Because
it worked previously i am beginning to think that the problem is not with
Contribute but with our server setup. We recently went through a migration from
Novel to Microsoft on our networks and ever since its been causing various
issues with Dreamweaver (fixed) and Contribute (not fixed).

Is there anything on the network side that i should be checking? i've ensured
my passwords are the same for both my local machine, the webserver and
Contribute.

KJSCRI,

The only other thing you might check would be any network based firewall
settings. With that drastic of a change to the network, they may be blocking
something.

You might also try running a net performance log and see if the log shows any
details that may lead to the cause of your issue.
