Contibute installs for every user of word
I work in a school and we installed Dreamweaver and now very time a new user
tries to run word Contribute 3.11 installer starts and tries to install a
printer. Then says they do not have rights to change the printer. Which is
good they are students and limited user.
How do I stop this from happening? I know it is the flashpaper tool bar is
there some where I can disable this in word BEFORE they log in. I takes so
long for both word and contribute to configure.

compounded because once the Flashpaper printer is installed, it sets it
as the default, which is just as much a pain for our users, especially
after waiting so long to get into Office. There is a way to install
Contribute without installing FlashPaper, which is what we ended up doing:

It is TID tn_19596 if the link doesn't work. I set up a batch file that
would run the command it lists.

Re: Contibute installs for every user of word
I even called tech support they gave me an ftp site to download a stand alone
version and it did not help.
So what I did was as I login in to an account we call hssetup and setup which
printer we want all the users to use we then log in to my account and copy the
hssetup account to the default user account in user profiles.
So as an extra step I now start word in that hssetup account and then when it
is copied there is no more office or contibute setup need by each user.
It works for us may not be best for all.

Re: Contibute installs for every user of word
Really sorry to hear other users having the same problems. I contacted
Macromedia about it last year and they denied the problem existed. I thought
it was my fault. After a bit of support ping pong I installed a fresh copy of
XP and then Macromedia 8 and logged on as a new user..the problem appeared
again.
So finally I got Macromedia to admit the problem exists and they told me that
there were no plans to fix it in the near future and closed the support call!!!
How rude is that! Our fix was to uninstall Contribute (which was a huge pain
with 400 machines involved). It aint going back on until this problem is
fixed...which is looking like the next release. I find it unbelievable that a
program designed to run in a network environment does not even support
profiles!!! How lame is that!
Unfortunately we use a mixture of mandatory and roaming user profiles so we
can't use a single macromedia logon profile to fix the problem. Does anyone
know what changes the msi installer makes when it runs? I'm wondering if I
could make a registry hack/file copy that would get around the problem. Has
anyone tried this?

Re: Contibute installs for every user of word
Well they must know there is an problem as if you go the start menu under
contribute there is a short cut to a batch file that will uninstall flashpaper.
If you don't have one this is the contents of that file.
FPDriverSetup.exe -u
msiexec.exe /i {4B9535BF-CC90-4158-AF32-CAF57A8820CA} REMOVE=FlashPaper
LAUNCHPROGRAM="" /qb+

Re: Contibute installs for every user of word
It's a shame that Flashpaper is a huge part of why we want to use Contribute in
the first place! I still can't fathom how a site licence for a program designed
to work in a network environment can be released in this state..and not fixed
over 6months later. Is this how Macromedia wants to operate?
