Re: Contribue 3.0 Says I am Already Editing Page
I have a permutation of this problem. My client (still using Contribute 1.0)
cannot edit certain portions of specific pages -- usually the top third or so.
After selecting Edit, I get this error message:
There were problems displaying this page which could be due to invalid
tags. Please contact your administrator before editing this page.
It doesn't happen on all pages and in all cases, these are pages that have
been fine until recently. I can download the pages, via ftp, and can't find any
bad tags.
Any idea?

Re: Contribue 3.0 Says I am Already Editing Page
OK I may have figured this out. I had an existing connection before I upgraded
to Contibute 3. That's when the trouble started. I have since deleted my
connection and re-created it. Everything is working smoothly. So, if you're
having the "can't edit file" problem, try deleting your connection and then
making a new one.

No. It still does not work for me.
I only have Contribute CS3, so my situation is a little different, as this was
not an upgrade.

Re: Contribue 3.0 Says I am Already Editing Page
:smile; I figure it out! Hope your issues are the same as mine and this helps.
At home I use Dreamweaver MX2004, at work a new Dreamweaver CS3. I wanted my
schools (10 buildings) to maintain their own sites. Some of the sites could
edit, some received the "already editing error".
The problem: the .mno files in the notes on the server had my "home"
information. Those notes were not updating when I pulled a draft in Contribute
or Checked out a file in DW CS3.
The solution: On the server, either delete the .mno files related to the htm
files or find an .mno file that allows editing and copy the small internal
information to the .mno causing the error.
I would have 3 programs running during my troublshooting: Contribute,
Dreamweaver and Cute FTP. In DW, make sure everything is checked in and the
mno note files are correct. Try to edit a file in Contribute. Upon recieving
the already editing error, look on the server using the FTP...open the .mno
file related to the html file you are editing...see if it is different than the
login you are using...if so make the above changes. Also delete the .lck file.
On the local machine, find the htm, mno and lck files and delete them. Try
again.
I can also say that Adobe email support was helpful and patient and we tried
many many different scenarios. There is a way for Contribute to capture a log
of connection events that is helpful in tracking issues.

Re: Contribue 3.0 Says I am Already Editing Page
Thank you, thank you, thank you CowGirlTech.
I can confirm that deleting the .mno files related to the problematic page has
fixed my problem, too. Be sure to delete the .mno file on the local machine as
well as on the server.
Local machine files are usually in
C:\documents and settings\<username>\local settings\application
data\adobe\contribute CS3\sites
at least if you're running CS3. On a Mac, that would be
/users/<username>/libraru/application support/adobe/contribute CS3/sites/

Did you solve your issue? By deleting the .mno files?
