Contribute 3.11 (Studio 8) Crashes
Got Contribute 3.11 as part of Studio 8 for XP Pro SP2 system.
Have not used it for a while but when I try execute it, it crashes
before showing the opening page.
Is it me - or do others have this problem? Very curious.

Re: Contribute 3.11 (Studio 8) Crashes
Works fine for me, but without more detail on the error it'll be
impossible for people to say they have the same problem as you. The
crash is the symptom, not the cause, and it's the cause that'll need to
be fixed.

Re: Contribute 3.11 (Studio 8) Crashes
The program window opens but then it crashes immediately and no
message or error window is displayed.
Any suggestions on how to proceed appreciated - not the smartest XP
user around. Thanks.

Re: Contribute 3.11 (Studio 8) Crashes
I'm not exactly an IT tech myself <g> but one thing you might want to
check is the XP event viewer (Control Panel > Adminstrative Tools >
Event Viewer). This might give a clue why Contribute is crashing.
I think you need to look at the "Applciation" events, and then look for
any rows with the red circle/white X icon, that occured around the time
Contribute crashed for you.
I can't say that it will give you anything useful, but it's certainly
worth a look and without a Windows error msg, this the best place to
start looking for the cause.
If you do spot anything, I'd post it here and see if anyone knows the
meaning of the error. You might also try contacting Adobe support and
posting that msg in Microsoft XP newsgroups/google groups

Re: Contribute 3.11 (Studio 8) Crashes
Found an error in Application under Event Viewer at the proper
time-date.
The only apparent information is Event 1000, whatever that is.
Tried Google could not find anything helpful.
Tried Microsoft.com and found something about reading a template.(?)
Security - System - Internet Explorer - no entry for the proper time.
Stumped & confused.

Re: Contribute 3.11 (Studio 8) Crashes
Adding Confusion: If I go to Adobe.com and click on Contribute 3 under
Products, I get the same error message and IE (6 or 7 beta) crashes,
Application - Event viewer (not in the IE event viewer).
What kind of sense does that make?

checked in Task Manager to see if:
Are there are instances of any of these applications already running?
This can sometimes happen when apps don't close properly for some reason.
Beta apps can sometimes muck around with other apps .dll files or
Windows references.
Are you bumping up against max memory usage issues?
Just some thoughts.

Re: Contribute 3.11 (Studio 8) Crashes
Ok, let me post what I did to resolve the problem. I received the error XThe
procedure entry pint GetProcessImageFileNameW could not be located in the
dynamic link library PSAPI.DLL
This caused Contribute 3.11 to crash, but after I received the error message.
I did a search for the file and have three on my PC
-One in the Dreamweaver program folder
-One in the Contribute program folder
-One in the windows/system32 folder.
I renamed both of the files in the Dreamweaver and Contribute folder to
PSAPI.old
Fixed the problem.

Re: Contribute 3.11 (Studio 8) Crashes
Hello polar_bare,
Thanks for the help!!
There seems to be some issues with the new IE7 beta dll's. We are working
on how to resolve it.
Thanks again !
