I have a site that is written in PHP and uses include files for the header and
left navigation. There is no advanced programming - it is simply HTML code
    within a .php page.

But, when I try to edit the page, none of the content is editable. The peices
of the page that are part of the include files have been replaced with a small,
yellow PHP icon (this is ok), but while the main page content displays fine in
edit mode, it cannot be edited.

When I remove the PHP include statements, the main page content is perfectly
editable. Why doesn't it work when the includes are present?

Has any one got a solution to this problem yet as it is driving me mad?

Try this suggestion...take a look at the code in your includes and make sure your <body> tags are NOT within any include files.

Thank you that worked for me. The includes still do not show but at lease the user can edit to content of each page which is good enough (and the style sheet is included)
