Contribute 4 Crashes Word

I just installed Contribute 4 and found that I can longer use Word! When I
open Word or a Word doc, I get the error message: "An unhandled win32 exception
occurred" and Word crashes. I am running Windows 2000 Professional. Any
suggestions?

Can you let us know what is the version of OFfice you are using?

What other plugins are causing this?

Please follow a work around for now to go to your C:\Program
Files\Adobe\Contribute 4\ and rename OfficePlugin.dll to
OfficePlugin.dll.old and relaunch your word?

Hope this helps. Once you are done you may want to rename the dll back
until we figure out what the problem is -

Hi Can you provide me more details on this? Can you give me the list of
applications that are installed on your machine? We are just trying to
reproduce this to anaylse and see if this is a bug that can be fixed.

Hi,

Can you try the following work arounds and provide me feedback:

1. Close all MS Office apps. Go to control panel, Choose contribute
and click on “Change” button. Try to Repair the contribute installation
and verify if the same thing happens again.

2. Another alternative could be to Uninstall and re-install Contribute

3. Also, can you please let me know if this is happening for Word
only or this happens for Excel and outlook also, before renaming the dll.

4. Imp: Can you send us the Crash log that you are getting? The
crash image that you have sent to me is seen only little, can you please
send me the complete crash log.

5. Can you verify in after launching MS word, Help->About Microsoft
Office word->Click on Disabled items button. And see if
OfficePlugin.dll/ContributePlugin is seen there. Please try enabling if
you can and try again.

6. Also it would be great if you can list us the applications that
you are running on your machine.

I had same problem. Renamed "officeplugin.dll", opened Word, closed Word, named "officeplugin.dll" back to original and now all is okay.

I am having the same problem. After installing Contribute 4, when I opened MS
Word, MSWord would open my last document in Document Recovery mode. I was
unable to select any options to recover the document. MS Word would reopen
automatically in Doc Recovery mode. I renamed the OfficPlugin.dll as you
suggested and was able to open MS Word. I renamed the OfficePlugin.ddd and was
able to ope MS Word. I now can get MS Word open, but the Contribute 4 toolbar
is not available. I am using Windows XP Pro, MS Office Pro 2003. MS Excel opens
correctly with the Contribute 4 toolbar. It bug seems to affect only MS Word.
Will there be a patch available soon?

A couple of users at our campus are having a similar issue with Contribute 3.
After installation of Contribute 3, the users cannot perform pre-defined mail
merges in MS Word. They are getting the message that the datasource is not
found. Once they uninstall Contribute, the mail merge works fine.

Hi, I just got Contribute 4 and am having this same problem with Word. Is the
patch the only solution or is there a way to fix the problem completely? Is it
only with Word 2000, or does 2003 seem to have the same problems?

I too was having the same issue with Contribute 4/Word 2000. I haven't been able to run the fix, because we had to uninstall Contribute (sorry, Word trumped it).

The demo installer still has this bug. Why did I recommend this software to my client?

The dll work around does correct the problem. To avoid it happening in the
first place, try declining all the installation offers to put shortcuts and
icons into/onto your PC. The only icon we let C4 create is the Desktop icon,
and we no longer have the problem with Microsoft Office apps not starting.
