Contribute adds 000 to image

Hi,

My apologies if this has already been asked but I wonder why Contribute
appends a 000 to the end of an image when publishing the HTML file? It's
slightly annoying to me and there has to be a reason for it, is it default
Contribute behavior? It also happens sometimes when working with PDF files
as well.

Any insight would be great,

It appends just to avoid over-writting any other file (dependent file of your html file) having same name with a different content.

I am having the same problem... Is there a way to turn this off so that the files get overwritten rather than being renamed with the _000?

1. If you are editing a page containing images, any alteration of the image,
say size or width, brightness / contrast etc. image will be published as _000

If you want to turn this off and provide the user option to "Do you want to
replace / OR / Create a similar named file", then you have to enable the
privilege option "Allow users to delete the files they have permission to edit".

Please use this option at your discretion as users will have permissions to
delete the files.

It will be in Edit->My Connections->Select site->Administer->Select a
role->Edit role settings->Folder/File Access->Allow users to delete the files
they have permission to edit.

Thank you for the quick reply but here lies my confusion. I have granted the
option to allow users to delete files they have permission to edit and still
the renaming continues.

Is there something in the user's settings I need to have them to change?
