Contribute and DW
Bought the latest suite. Contribute seems to be a big time saver in one sense.
If I want to change the site directly. But I'm having trouble integrating it
with DW and other problems. One thing, it updates the site nicely and easily.
But then the file on my computer is no longer up to date. To bring that up to
date I have to download the web copy back into my computer. Sometimes it's
locked and I have to unlock it. Other times it's not locked, but, even so, it
takes a time, which is what I was trying to save in the first place. Maybe I'm
missing the concept of Contribute.
The other problem is that if I am the only one I've allowed to edit the site,
sometimes it refuses to let me in saying only Tom (which is me) is allowed to
edit. If I turn the computer on and off, sometimes this problem is resolved.
"Help" or the tutorial has been of no help to me for either problem. Thanks,
Tom

Re: Contribute and DW
Make sure that any file that you change in Dreamweaver is always fresh off the
server. One way is to use check in/check out, which will oblige you to do so. I
run a site with DW and C, and this works just fine. Sounds like you might want
to read up a bit more on all of this. One colleague of mine has the Visual
Quickstart guide to Contribute, which seems like a decent starting point.
Good luck.
