Web Assist's answer to my question:

Contribute is not designed to be used to edit CSS styles that it uses. In
Contribute you can select the given styles but you should not change them.

What happens in Contribute is that when a style is selected, a class is
created which gets applied across the site, so any CSS editing for
Contribute needs to be done in Dreamweaver.

ORIGINAL POST:
RE: Font sizes misdisplay
Going into the code, I see what is happening. Applying font size or face
changes to selected areas of text on templates, especially multiple
paragraphs, but also for single paragraphs, will result in nested CSS files
instead of a replacement of all styles with the new one. So, for example, I
wanted to enlarge the text some paragraphs to size 12, they will not
necessarily enlarge. The CSS and the manually applied style says 12 in the
properties panel, but the font may display as 9 on screen. On the other
hand, the default styles for body text may say 12 in the CSS, but the
properties panel will say 9!!! This is true even if the raw code has no
font size attached to it. It seems that changing text sizes will create new
styles in the CSS, but it is not being overlaid properly on existing
paragraphs. The problem is made worse by cutting and pasting text from a
Word document, HOWEVER, I find the same problems exist simply cutting and
pasting from straight text docs. This is faulty code and it may be
Contribute's weakness, and ebay thing, or the Webassist's weakness. I am not
sure.
