Default "Contribute could not connect because the server is downor not acception connections"

When I try to make a connection with Contribute 3, I get this error message:
"Contribute could not connect because the server is down or not acception
connections". I can connect with other pc's (so the server is not down).

I recently got a virus on my computer and had it removed. I also upgraded to
norton 2006 from 2004. Ever since this I am unable to connect to my server. I
have removed contribute and re-installed it hoping this would work but no luck.
I have a second computer in the house that is wireless and don't have Norton
on and I can log onto my website. In the past I had to change my firewall
settings in order to log on from hi to low but now I can log on at all.
    Any solutions?

I recently had this happen for no reason after months/years of mostly problems
free. My admin guy gave me new connection keys but they just wouldn't be
accepted due to the error message (the server is down and is not accepting
    connections).
What worked for me, after doing a ftp filechecking, ping the server, check the
server from another 3rd party, is I deleted the website from my connections
list, and manually created another one. This time I was able to "see" the
server and the files, but with the basic default settings in the connection
wizard was getting the same error message....til I changed the options in the
advanced wizard page to accept passive FTP, deselect the FTP optimize box, and
crossed my toes. It worked..... can't tell you what or why or how. It is sure
strange....happened overnight....kept me stymied for too long.
