Contribute CS3 not working with Leopard
Hi,
Ever since I loaded Lopard onto my Mac - Contribute won't connect to any of my
websites.
Says it can't connect 'because the server is down or not accepting
connections.'
Is anyone else having this issue - and does anyone know the cure?
I've re-installed - but still won't work.
Thanks,
- Greg

Re: Contribute CS3 not working with Leopard
I agree. Contribute will not connect to my site either.
Dreamweaver connects OK and I can see Contribute writing the temporary file it
uses to verify its connection.
It can browse the site using the "choosing a connection" dialogue of the
"create connection assistant".
It can also browse the site file structure using the ftp connection dialogue.
The only thing it won't do is connect to the site!
I must try to connect using OSX 10.4.10 to verify the problem is caused by
Leopard.

? Your website URL
? The type of webserver used (for example : Microsoft IIS Web Server, Apache
Web Server etc)

? The user id and password used to connect to webserver.
Thanks,

Re: Contribute CS3 not working with Leopard
Hi, Id like to use my brand new copy of Contribute CS3, but on my MacBook Pro
with Leopard on it it says 'Sorry, but we encountered some problems creating
your .Mac connection. Please verify your .Mac settings in System Preferences"
My .Mac settings are fine. Its been set forever and shows up perfectly in
System Preferences.
I conclude it doesnt work, at least for me, with .Mac, My software is as
follows:
Contribute 4.1 out of Master Collection CS3, Leopard 10.5.1 build 9B18, 3GB
MacBook Pro.

Re: Contribute CS3 not working with Leopard
Hi Angus,
I also got the same error, when tried with expired .Mac account. when i
tried with the valid new account, it worked fine for me. Please check your
account details, if is expired please renew it to continue. Try the same in Mac
Tiger also.

Thanks Dominic but my .Mac account is fine. I use it every day. I dont have
Tiger anymore and my copy of CS3 is activated on my MacBook Pro running Leopard
so I cant try it on a different Mac.
Any other tips anyone?

Re: Contribute CS3 not working with Leopard
Hi - I'm getting the same message and can't figure out why. I've tried
reloading my site info into Contribute anew, and still getting the message
"contribute could not connect to server because the server is down or not
accepting connections. please contact your administrator"... But the server is
up. I'm not on a Mac, but recently upgraded to a Dell Latitude D630... This was
my first time trying to connect to my site through Contribute on the new
computer. Any thoughts?

Re: Contribute CS3 not working with Leopard
Same issues here. I have posted to another thread about this:
"I'm the same. CS3 on Leopard is a lemon. I have both CS3 and the previous
version 4 installed on my MacBook Pro. I can login using Contribute 4 and make
edits, publish etc.. But when I use CS3 to access the same site I get an error
message with the connection.
The problem is that CS3 did work previously at some stage and I used it to
administer the sites. Now I can't use it to make administration changes, nor
can I use version 4 to make admin changes because it doesn't recognize CS3's
configs."

Have you tried re-importing your connections? ie. Completely remove your connections and add them back in?

Re: Contribute CS3 not working with Leopard
Hi Dave,
Can you please send me the following site information at "mangupta@adobe.com"
so we can connect to the site and nail down the issue:
? Your website URL
? The connection type used to connect to webserver (LAN/FTP/SFTP/WebDAV)
? The user id and password used to connect to webserver.
You can also create a:
1. One test folder inside the site
2. One test role and a test user under the same role
3. Provide the access to the user only to that folder by adminstering the site
-> Select the role->Edit Role settings->Folder File Access->Only allow editing
within these folders -> Add the test folder in the list.
All the information will be kept confidential and your quick reply will be
appreciated.
Thanks,

Re: Contribute CS3 not working with Leopard
Has anyone been able to solve this? I don't usually use Contribute so I had
not opened it since upgrading, but now I need to recreate the shared settings
on a site I work with and Contribute will not connect to any of the sites
previously set up. I've searched Google for the past hour or so with not luck
other than this forum post!
Any help/guidance would be much appreciated!!

Re: Contribute CS3 not working with Leopard
I have it on both tiger and leopard. Tiger works fine, leopard won't connect.
Does anyone know of a web editor similar to use. I am comfortable with front
page for windows and contribute. Dreamweaver was a bit too much. are there
any others?

Re: Contribute CS3 not working with Leopard
Hi James,
I am exactly looking for this scenario. Can you please send me the following
site information at "mangupta@adobe.com" so we can connect to the site and
reproduce the issue:
All the information will be kept confidential.

Re: Contribute CS3 not working with Leopard
I'm running Contribute 3 (perhaps "running" is too generous) on a Mac OS
10.3.9. Contribute does work for most tasks, though laboriously, but it crashes
whenever I try to create a link to files on a Mac Server (10.2.8), so I have to
use DreamWeaver (not nearly as simple). I have over 50 "clients" on a school
site who use Contribute 3 and I haven't had any complaints, only crashes on my
computer (logged in as administrator) and also on an Intel iMac 10.4.11
whenever it trys to make a connection. I do not plan on upgrading our school
computers to Leopard, and we will eventually eliminate using Contribute in
favor of a 3rd party web-based editing process. My browsing Adobe's help center
was futile ... they seem to think everything can be solved with an FAQ, but
perhaps I missed something.

Re: Contribute CS3 not working with Leopard
Me, too.
Downloaded a trial. Installed it but no connection.
Any progress here?
Working on iMac with OS 10.5.2, which works fine otherwise.
Can't connect to my websites FTP site (and I checked with my ISP and by using
Fetch that I have correct configuration.) Nor can connect to my Typepad blog
site.
